Agreed and signed: South Africa and the Republic of Congo sign new agreements

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and his counterpart Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have signed agreements in the areas of agriculture, defense, energy, health, trade, and investment.

One of the agreements is the revival of a seven-dam hydroelectric project on the Congo River, which could become the world's largest once built.

The two presidents also discussed a possible mutual security agreement between the two countries, but no details were released.

With militias still occupying parts of Congo's turbulent east, Ramaphosa, for his part, pledged to continue helping the DRC fight insecurity and poverty
