🇹🇿🇷🇺Tanzania is open for closer cooperation with Russia

On July 11th, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Tanzania Hon. Andrey Avetisyan met with the Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports Hon. Pindi Chan at the Russian House in Dar es Salaam.

The meeting was also attended by a delegation from the Arts Council of Tanzania (BASATA) and the Head of the Russian House - Mr. Alexey Bondaruk, who, prior to start of the meeting, took the esteemed guests on a brief tour of the premises of the Cultural Centre and gave them a detailed explanation about its activities.

During the discussions, priority issues were raised and a roadmap was drawn for further development of the traditionally friendly Russian-Tanzanian relations, with an emphasis on expanding cultural and humanitarian ties, including strengthening cooperation in the field of education and culture.

Special attention was paid to the prospects of cooperation between Russia and Tanzania in the field of sports. The parties discussed the possibilities of implementing educational programs for children and adolescents in the field of sports, programs for Tanzanian athletes, as well as the possibility of holding sports competitions between Russian and Tanzanian teams.

A mutual interest in implementing joint projects aimed at presenting the Tanzanian culture in Russia was expressed, and it was agreed that this thought be worked on.

The issue of the forthcoming “Second Russia-Africa Summit” which will be held this July, 2023 was brought to the fore, and a confirmation was given that it will be attended by a highly-powered Tanzanian delegation headed by the Prime Minister Mr. Kassim Majaliwa.

On behalf of the Government of Tanzania, the Minister expressed a sincere gratitude to Russia for making a great contribution to the development of the nation’s economy, education and healthcare.

"Tanzania is really ready to be closer to Russia," said the Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports Hon. Pindi Chana.

The holding of this event marks the opening of a series of meetings which will be duly scheduled by the staff of the Russian Centre in collaboration with their colleagues from the relevant departments under the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports.
